
The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force has named Acting Sergeant Garvin James as Investigator of the Year.
James was among 37 outstanding officers recognized at the State House Conference Centre last night, as the force closed out Police Week 2025.
Inspector Simon Edwards was named Prosecutor of the Year in Roseau, while Acting Inspector Norman Alexander received the same honor for the Marigot district. Special Constable Albert Cuffy earned the title of Special Constable of the Year for the Roseau area, and Constable Derrickson Fontaine of the CID was awarded Constable of the Year.
Sherwin Mitchel of Roseau was named Corporal of the Year, and Sergeant Darwin Francis of the Grand Bay district received the Sergeant of the Year award. Inspector Lindon Timothy was honored as Inspector of the Year.
The police also issued special recognition awards, including one to Sergeant Boyd Yankey. A few weeks ago, an individual surrendered nine firearms to Sergeant Yankey.

In total, 37 officers received awards at last night’s ceremony.
Meanwhile, Commonwealth of Dominica Coordinator for UN and International Agencies, Dr. Addis King, told attendees that officers must be prepared for the growing challenges associated with policing in a rapidly changing environment.
Minister responsible for Finance, Dr. Irving McIntyre, represented Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit at the event.
