A call for Dominicans’ right to vote to be protected

A former Minister for Education has called on the authorities to protect Dominicans right to vote , as the country embarks on electoral reform.

Sonia Williams told the electoral reform consultation at Goodwill parish hall last night ,  Dominicans who reside abroad should not be removed from the voters list. She says the 50-90 day resident requirement for Dominicans abroad, must not be implemented

Meantime , attorney Cara Shillingford favors laws which prevent Dominicans who reside abroad for lengthy periods, from voting automatically  in general elections.

Former senior public officer Pamela Guiste has shot down claims that campaign finance needs to be implemented in Dominica

Meantime , former UWP candidate in the Roseau Central Constituency Glenroy SOSO Cuffy says electoral reform needs to be implemented in Dominica urgently

The consultation moves to Marigot this evening.
