The Pierre Charles Secondary School said goodbye to 37 students this morning.
The school hosted its virtual graduation ceremony under the theme ‘Education is not Preparation for Life; Education is Life Itself’.
A Haitian national, Geyoudena Desir, was named the 2021 Valedictorian.
She picked up the subject awards in English A, Social Studies, General Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, General Spanish, Office Administration, Physical Education and Health and Family Life Education.
In her Valedictorian Address, she exhorted her fellow graduates to “remember that your background, race, and nationality, does not determine your success”.
Desir also reflected on her struggles with prejudice.
“Being a foreigner in a foreign country was never easy,” she said, “However, I removed all forms of prejudice and racism forced upon me, and today, I made it!”
The Salutatorian award went to Aisha Brigeman Royer while Akim Brotherson was named student of the year.
