Effective December 8th, 2021 American Airlines will host direct flights to Dominica.
The announcement came from Tourism Minister Denise Charles.
The service will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays with Departure from Miami international airport at 11 am and arrival at Douglas Charles airport at 3.21 pm.
The return flight will leave Dominica at 4.24 pm and will arrive in Miami at 6.55 pm.
Charles said this significant announcement by American airlines affirms the significant investments that the government has made and continues to make to improve our tourism products.
The Tourism Minister stated the announcement is a critical part of plans to increase visitor arrivals in parallel with the development of an international airport.
She added direct access will not only play a critical role in expanding tourism but also in developing trade and facilitating business connections.
“In the coming winter season, the direct service will provide our North American visitor with the added confidence of uninterrupted travel to and from Dominica with full compliance with our protocols.”
She further stated, as a destination, our management of the pandemic has been recognized globally as one of the safest places to travel.
In February 2021, Dominica received the safe travel stamp by the World Travel and Tourism Council, which reassures that the destinations, health, and safety protocols meet globally accepted standards and more recently the center for disease control has categorized Dominica as level one for travel to the destination, indicating that Dominica is seen as one of the destinations with the lowest risk for travelers.
Charles urged citizens to continue to remain focused as the country gets ready to receive this new service.
