Bouyon band Signal Band stole the spotlight at the CREOLE Heartbeat Music Awards over the weekend

The Bouyon band Signal Band stole the spotlight at the CREOLE Heartbeat Music Awards held at the Intercontinental Resort and Spa over the weekend.

Signal Band won the award for Band of the Year, while their lead singer, Shelly, was named Songwriter of the Year. They also received the award for Music Video of the Year for their song “Bye to the Old Me.” Shelly further secured the title of Male Artist of the Year. The Album of the Year award went to Signal Band for their album “Electric Room.”

Additionally, Signal Band’s manager, Jerlani Robinson, was recognised as Manager of the Year. The Bouyon Artist of the Year award went to Pudaz.

Other notable awards included:

– Junior Male Artist of the Year: Tyce Faustin and Mighty T

– Female Junior Artist of the Year: Shervez Seaman and Moxey Shervy

– Gospel Artist of the Year: J-CRO

– Soca Song of the Year: Mr Benji, Zamoni, and Pah-Jo

– Rising and Emerging Band/Artist of the Year: Real Reel

– DJ of the Year: DJ MJ

– Photographer/Videographer of the Year: Media Linx

– Content Creator of the Year: Jael Joseph

– Cadense Lypso Song of the Year: Mr Ridge and Chubby

– Calypso Artist of the Year: Joy

– Live Music Engineer of the Year: Sean Shillingford

– Producer of the Year: Mr Ridge

– Reggae/Dancehall Artist of the Year: Colton T

– Compa/Zouk Artist of the Year: Extasy Band

– Event of the Year: Asa Banton’s Breakfast Fete

– Collaboration of the Year: “Someone Else” by Little Boy, Quan, and Trilla G

– Female Artist of the Year: Bouyon Barbie Faith E.

The Felix Henderson Award for the Preservation of Creole Culture was awarded to Sonia Magloire Akpa, while the Iconic Award went to music producer Krishna Dada Lawrence.

Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to:

– Ophelia and the late Fitzroy Williams for Cadense Lypso

– David Benjamin for Traditional Music

– Nassio Fontaine for Reggae

– Jerry Lloyd for Gospel Music

– Ian Jackson for Calypso and Songwriting

– Bass guitarist Keith Goddard for Bouyon Music
