Bus drivers in Dominica are on course to receive a grant from the Government.

This week bus drivers protested along the E.O. Leblanc Highway, calling on the Government to honor a commitment which was made to assist them.

Public Relations Officer of the Mahaut Bus Drivers Association Worrel St Jean, said a team of bus drivers met Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit on Tuesday to discuss a way forward

“Yes, we met with the Prime Minister and Mr. Blackmoore…We had a very informative meeting, we came up with a solution it’s a win, win,” St Jean stated.

He said the bus drivers were thankful both parties could come to an understanding, and bus drivers can now wait for good news.

“Well, we have agreed and the Government has agreed to give us a stimulus package…the Prime Minister said it could work out in a course of maybe a week to a week and a half,” St Jean added.

According to St Jean, every bus driver on island will benefit from the grant.
