Children Advocates to Receive Independence Day Recognition

Magistrate Gloria Septra Augustus and Consultant Martin Anthony are to be recognised on Independence Day 2023.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit made the announcement in Parliament Tuesday morning during debate on the Status of Children bill.

Mr. Skerrit told Parliament they have been among many Dominicans advocating for the rights of Dominican children.

The Status of Children Bill was passed in Parliament Tuesday. Mr. Skerrit says the decision to introduce the Act to Parliament is forward thinking and a new day for all Dominican children.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services with special responsibility for Seniors Security and Children at Risk, Dr. Cassandra Williams presented the Status of Children Bill to Parliament.

 

Opposition Senator Delroy Paris supported the Status of Children Bill in Parliament.
