DFA Opens National Youth Academy, Marking New Era for Football Development in Dominica

DFA President Glen Ettiene says the launch of the Dominica Football Association’s National Youth Academy marks a defining moment in the history of football in Dominica.

Ettiene made the remarks on Friday at the official opening of the DFA National Youth Academy, which will welcome more than 80 young footballers as part of its inaugural Class of 2026.

He explained that the academy is a critical pillar of the DFA’s long-term football development strategy, aimed at identifying and nurturing local talent from an early age.

FIFA Talent Coach, Kurt Herd also welcomed the initiative, describing the academy as a crucial tool for advancing football development on the island.

Meanwhile, Minister of State with responsibility for Sports, Senator Oscar George, commended the DFA for what he described as a bold and timely move.

He praised the association for investing in youth and taking practical steps to elevate the standard of football in Dominica.

The DFA National Youth Academy is expected to play a key role in shaping the next generation of Dominican footballers and strengthening the country’s presence on the regional and international stage.
