Dominica Commemorates World Fisheries Day

Agriculture Minister, Johnson Drigo has called for more investment to the fisheries Sector in Dominica.

His call came as Dominica observed World Fisheries Day 2017 with an exhibition at the Fisheries Complex in Roseau.

He says Government’s support has expanded the fisheries Sector.

Meantime, fishing equipment worth $26, 000 dollars has been presented to fishermen of Castle Bruce and San Sauver.

The funds were secured from the world Development Forum through Ambassador Laureen Bannis Roberts.

The fishing equipment was presented to Greg George of Castle Bruce and Kimani Morillon of San Sauver.

At the weekend, six men in the Loubiere Community secured employment through the fisheries sector as three vessels and equipment were made available to them, presented by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Loubiere Community Centre.
