Captain of Dominica’s national Under-23 cricket team, Stephan Pascal, says the team’s heavy defeat to St Lucia came down to one key factor, preparation.
Dominica suffered an eight-wicket loss inside two days of their three-day match at the Botanic Gardens on Wednesday. After being dismissed for 124 in the first innings, Dominica were bowled out for 150 in their second innings, with Jedd Joseph top-scoring with 49 and Earsinho Fountain adding 31.
St Lucia’s bowlers dominated once again, led by Isaiah Jones (3–20) and Tarique Edwards (3–43).

Chasing 105 for victory, St Lucia raced to the target in just 13 overs, finishing on 106–2, with Noel Leo remaining unbeaten on 40.
Following the match, captain Stephan Pascal expressed disappointment with the team’s performance and overall preparation.
Dominica also lost all three of the 50-over matches played during the series.
Head coach John Fabien was equally critical, noting that the senior players did not step up when needed, further contributing to Dominica’s struggles.
Meanwhile, St Lucia coach John Eugene said he was pleased with his team’s overall showing throughout the tour.
Final Scores – 3-Day Match:
- Dominica: 124 & 150
- St Lucia: 170 & 106–2 (St. Lucia won by 8 wickets)
