Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Johnson says Dominica has stepped up its surveillance in light of the reported dengue cases in the region.
The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) recently urged the Region to prepare for the possibility of a severe outbreak of Dengue Fever, saying that disease modeling predicts that a regional outbreak of Dengue may occur in the near future.
Dr Johnson says Dominica has had an active surveillance system in place since 2003, where weekly reports are given from all seven health districts and the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Dr Johnson says it is important to control the spread of mosquitoes in Dominica.
