His Excellency Balaz Attila Heinz presented his letter of credence to President of Dominica , His Excellency Charles Savarin this morning.
Mr. Savarin said Dominica looks forward to the growing presence of Hungary in the Caribbean and to the further strengthening of relationships in dealing with the challenges confronting small Islands developing states.
He said some of these challenges are the effects of climate change , COVID 19 , rising effects of crime and violence and the ongoing Russia /Ukraine war , all of which call for a collective effort to combat the disastrous effects of these threats.
Mr. Savarin said threats to the peace and security of Haiti , Cuba and Venezuela are real and says the current situation in these countries demand greater international attention.
He said the Government of Hungary could help alleviate the plight of the Haitian people by lending its support in devising a plan to fund the overall transformation of HAITI.
The Dominica president noted that further progress is needed to persuade the US to lift its sanctions against Cuba.
He added that the Government of Hungary could help Cuba and Venezuela to resolve their challenges and improve the lives of their people not only by joining with the voices of many other countries , but by taking concrete action to create a zone of peace in the Caribbean.
