Minister for Social Services, Family and Gender Affairs, Catherine Daniel says child abuse remains a serious concern in society and she is calling on all sectors of society to play their role in protecting children.
Her comments as Dominica joined the rest of the world in observance of Universal Children’s Day on Sunday 20.
Minister Daniel says more needs to be done to combat the issue of child abuse in Dominica.
Universal Children’s Day was established in 1954 by the United Nations and is celebrated on November 20th each year.
The day seeks to promote international togetherness, and awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare.
