Dominica Observes World Fisheries Day with Focus on Small-Scale Fisheries and Blue Economy

Minister of State with responsibility for Fisheries and the Blue Economy, Jullan Defoe, says this year’s national theme for World Fisheries Day reflects Dominica’s own realities, challenges, and opportunities.

Dominica, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy, joined the global community today in marking World Fisheries Day under the theme “Small-Scale Fisheries: Building Blue Economies.”

The day is observed annually on November 21 and highlights the importance of sustainable fishing practices and responsible marine resource management.
