Dominica Officially Launches National Health Insurance Pilot Program

A checque for 5 million dollars has been presented to the Dominica Social Security, as the country launches a new National Health Insurance Pilot Program.

The program will provide financial assistance in the amount of 80% to pregnant mothers 35 years and under and children three years and under.

At the launch of the program on Monday, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said the program will benefit many in Dominica who are unable to afford medical care.

Meantime, representative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr Peter Crowley says the launch of the program is a bold initiative for Dominica.

Two young Dominican artists, Janae Jackson and Phael Lander put their appreciation for the program in song at the launch on Monday.
