The Dominica Red Cross, in the observance of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on May 8, donated First Aid kits and Hygiene supplies to 130 institutions in Dominica.
Primary and Secondary schools, Resource Centers and Homes for the Aged benefitted from the donations.
The 43 schools across the island that received supplies were selected because they also serve as emergency shelters in their respective community.
Mrs. Chandler Hyacinth, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, received the supplies on behalf of the Ministry.
Additionally, Director General of the Dominica Red Cross Mrs. Sandra Charter-Rolle reported that as part of the organization’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activities, “Seven Public Conveniences were enhanced on the West Coast in the communities of Tarreau, Layou, Mero, Morne Rachette, and Salisbury”
The Dominica Red Cross has been serving the people of Dominica since 1958 as an arm of the British Red Cross.
