Energy Minister, Dr Vince Henderson, has reiterated the government’s plans to bring Dominica’s first 10-megawatt geothermal power plant into operation, a development expected to boost the country’s renewable energy capacity to approximately 80 per cent.

Dr Henderson made the remarks while participating in a High-Level Dialogue on Reimagining Energy at the 16th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), currently underway in Abu Dhabi.

He further indicated that Dominica is working toward achieving full reliance on renewable energy for electricity generation by 2030.
