Drive- through testing for COVID-19 began at the Windsor Park Stadium Tuesday morning.

Health Minister Dr. Irving Mc Intyre encouraged motorists to drive to the Windsor Park, where they can be tested in their vehicles.

The initiative will continue on Wednesday and Thursday, and Dr. Mc Intyre says results will be emailed to participants.

US-based healthcare company GMED Global LLC, partnered with the Ministry of Health to organize the drive- through.

Dr. Mc Intyre says GMED Global assisted in training staff, in addition to donating 2,000 test kits and an Ultra Low Temperature Freezer that can store up to 16,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The donations are valued at about US$300,000.

The Health Minister noted that the drive- through is an addition to Government’s COVID-19 testing initiatives.

Meantime, the Ministry of Health is continuing COVID-19 vaccination drives, with an outreach programme launched for the elderly on Monday.

Dr. Mc Intyre reported that 35 senior citizens were vaccinated at the Infirmary, with vaccination of the elderly to continue Tuesday across the island’s health districts.

The drive continues for small businesses at the Roseau Health District on Wednesday.
