DVRP says Works are progressing well on the East Coast Road Project

The Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project DVRP on Thursday led a media tour to the site of the ongoing East Coast Road project.

The 127 million dollar road rehabilitation will see an improvement to the road network from Bois Daibles to Hatton Garden.

At present on the site was the Minister of Kalinago Upliftment Cozier Frederick and Parliamentary Representative for the Castle Bruce Constituency Octavia Alfred.

Evaluation, Monitoring and Communications Specialist at the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project DVRP, Nadette Langford, says works are progressing well on the Project.

She said, the unit has decided to undertake spot interventions to repair and rehabilitate the 30 kilometers of roads with a focus on critical areas such as the culvert as well as bridges.

She added the demolition of the Belfield Bridge known as the Castle Bruce stretch has been completed.

Five bridges are expected to be demolished in the process and bypasses will be constructed to prevent interruption to traffic flow.

Langford added that the unit is confident that payments to the landowners will be issued soon.

Over 306 properties owners have been paid before the project started.
