The Environmental Health Department is appealing to vendors and patrons to fully cooperate with health officers during the carnival season, as efforts are intensified to safeguard public health.
Senior Environmental Health Officer responsible for food safety, Calma Louis, says food safety will be a top priority throughout the carnival period.
She noted that environmental health officers will be actively monitoring food preparation and vending activities to ensure standards are met and the public is protected.
Louis also urged vendors and their assistants to place strong emphasis on proper hand hygiene, describing it as one of the most critical measures in preventing foodborne illnesses.
According to Louis, regular handwashing and maintaining clean food-handling practices are essential, especially in high-traffic vending areas during carnival activities.
The Environmental Health Department says it remains committed to working with vendors to promote safe food practices and is encouraging the public to be vigilant when making food purchases throughout the carnival season.
