Equipment Sub-Committee Commissioned to Identify Needs for New National Hospital

Health Minister Kenneth Darroux says an equipment sub committee has been set up to identify the needs of the new national hospital.

The Health Minister also says that the human resource aspect at the new hospital will also be upgraded to compliment the modern equipment.

Meantime, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says the primary health care system will have to be upgraded to compliment the new national hospital.

He says a number of primary health care facilities around the island will need to be upgraded to type 3 hospitals where they will be able to provide improved health care, and limit the number of patients requiring care at the new hospital.

The New National Hospital is being constructed by Hunan construction engineering group cooperation of China with Grant funding from the People’s Republic of China.

The Ministry of Health and the Environment signed a contract with a Chinese Company on December 11th, 2015.

On Monday August 8, 2016, Dominica witnessed the ground-breaking for commencement of work at the site.
