Flood Warning expected to be issued for Dominica at 2pm

A tropical wave is approaching the Island- Valid from: 6:00 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2017.

Forecast for Today and Tonight:

-Partly cloudy and slightly hazy at first, becoming increasingly cloudy, slightly hazy and breezy with showers and possible isolated thunderstorms by afternoon
Wind: East north easterly to East south easterly @ 15 to 35 km/h with higher gust near showers.
-Sea Conditions: Slight to moderate in open water
-Waves: 1.0 to 2.0 meters or 3.0 to 7.0 feet.

Weather Outlook for Dominica and the Lesser Antilles:

A westward moving tropical wave located just east of the island chain is expected to result in an increase in cloudiness, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across the area during the next 24 hours. Persons in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rock are advised to be vigilant and to exercise extreme caution particularly from midday today to midday tomorrow.
Seas are expected to be slight to moderate in open water with waves peaking near 7 feet during today. An increase to peak near 8 feet together with an increase in wind speed can be expected by tomorrow. Small craft operators and sea bathers, particularly on the eastern coast, are advised to exercise caution.

Category two Hurricane Ophelia, the tenth hurricane of the Atlantic Hurricane season, is located over the open waters of the North Eastern Atlantic. This system poses no direct threat to Dominica.
