Former West Indies Cricket selector Lockhart Sebastien believes the Caribbean side has enough talent to advance from the group stage of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, but remains cautious about their ability to go deep into the tournament against stronger opposition.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Monday announced a 15-member squad for the global showpiece, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka from February 6 to March 9. The team will be captained by Shai Hope.
Reacting to the announcement, Sebastien noted that while most of the selections were expected, a few inclusions prompted discussion.
The West Indies squad has already assembled in South Africa for a three-match T20 International series against the Proteas, which will serve as their final preparation ahead of the World Cup.
