Josette Seraphine Hedrington has been re-elected President/International Commissioner of the Girl Guides Association of Dominica
The associations Chief Commissioner is Valencia Webb with Marcia Dublin as Training Commissioner. Commissioner for Roseau and Assistant Secretary is Harmony Emmanuel. Sherise Andrew is Secretary, Mara Abraham is Treasurer and Lisa Ernest is Public Relations Officer.
Mrs. Hedrington told the associations at the annual general meeting, “Indeed in solidarity with the general movement initiated by the world association of girl guides and girl scouts, we the girl guides of Dominica have made a decision to step in as advocates for the vulnerable within our communities “.
She said they are strengthened in their commitment to speak out against abuse to girls and women. She called on the nation to join the girl guides on their mission.
Minister responsible for youth , sports and Community Development Gretta Roberts who addressed the annual general meeting praised the efforts of the girl guides association and said their contribution in molding girls in society should not go unnoticed
Featured speaker, President of the Dominica council on Ageing Ophelia Marie called for greater investment into the education of girls if they are to becomes leaders in society.
