Gov to provide new generator to DOMLEC to address capacity

The commissioning of a new generator, provided by the government of Dominica, is among measures being put in place by DOMLEC to address the current shortage of generation capacity on island.

General Manager of DOMLEC Bertilia McKenzie told a press conference on Thursday they have also engaged the services of a consultant to assess the company’s generation system.

The company also reported an island-wide power outage on Thursday which came as a result of a fault in the system.

Mrs. McKenzie says the prolonged dry season is among major causes of the company’s generation capacity shortage.
