Government Outsources Designs for New Marigot Hospital

Health Minister Dr Kenneth Darroux says design works for the new Marigot hospital will be outsourced.

The Marigot hospital was forced to be closed following mold and fungus infestation earlier this year.

The Marigot Hospital was first shut down in 2014 because of a severe termite infestation.

The release said the closure was taken in the best interest of the staff, clients and the public after careful consideration and consultation with relevant authorities.

“In the meantime, the services provided by the Marigot Hospital have been moved to the Wesley Health Center,” it stated. “Since the closure last week of the Marigot Hospital, officials of the Ministry have been working overtime to find a building in the area properly suited to house a medical facility.”

Health Minister, Dr. Kenneth Darroux, has said the government is committed to building a new hospital in Marigot and monies have been allocated for its design in the financial year.

“We’ve dedicated $300,000 or so in this financial year to begin the issue of the design, etc for the Marigot Hospital,” he said. “I really want to assure the Marigot community.”
