Government is expected to sign an over $8 million dollar contract for the reconstruction of the Hillsborough bridge at Layou.

The contract will be signed next week, as Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says Government has been working on solutions to repair one of the two bridges at Hillsborough which was affected by Hurricane Maria.

According to the Prime Minister it cost a significant among of money to clear the debris at the site.

“And I believe we have finally found the solution to it, a cheaper solution to the construction……last year for example, earlier last year I felt that the amount was significant,” Mr. Skerrit stated.

He added that the Ministry of Public Works has been able to find a workable solution to the bridge that will allow Government to construct it.

“And, so we will be signing a contract next week in the tune of over eight million dollars, for the construction of the Hillsborough bridge so as to reinstate the two bridges at Hillsborough,” the Prime Minister added.
