A group of former police officers has called on the authorities to provide a pension to former Director of Public Prosecutions, Gene Pestaina.

Pestaina is ill and currently battling for his life.

At a press conference on Monday, former Senior Police Officer, Nicholas George said Pestaina worked extensively in the police and public service.

Meantime, Attorney at law, Gildon Richards says he has seen no evidence to suggest that Pestaina does not qualify for a pension.

He has called for leaders in Dominica to speak on behalf of Pestaina.

A petition will be launched by the former police officers this week in support of Pestaina.

Attorney General Levi Peter tells DBS News a Government response on the matter will be made this week.
