Health Department reporting island wide outbreak of biting midges

The Environmental Health Department (EHD) is reporting that Dominica has been experiencing an island wide outbreak of a new biting insect called the biting midges.

Chief Environmental Health Officer Tassie Thomas has advised that these insects do not transfer any diseases.

Thomas says people with sensitive skin are more likely to be impacted greatly from this insect.
