Minister for Social Services, Catherine Daniel is standing behind a decision to dissolve the Laplaine Village Council.
She says after carefully discussing issues facing the council, it was decided that new elections would be the way forward.
Minister Dnaiel noted that the Laplaine Village Council has been affected by problems for several months.
The social Services Minister called on candidates for the next Laplaine Council elections to recommit themselves to service in the community.

She urged all other villages in Dominica that when people offer themselves to be on councils, the purpose and the intent should be for the well-being of the communities.
Council election will be held on January 9, 2017.
