Grandbay MP, Edward Registe

The body of the late Edward Registe will be laid to rest at Grandbay today, following a state funeral.

The late Edward Registe, who served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Representative for Grandbay from 2O19, died last month at the age of 5O.

His body lay in State at the State House conference center from 8 this morning to 11am, allowing Government officials, members of Parliament and members of the diplomatic corps to view the body ahead of the funeral mass at Grandbay at 2pm.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says action should be taken on plans the late MP formulated for the Grandbay Constituency.

Mr. Skerrit’s comments came during a special ceremony at Grandbay last night.

“Ed never had small ideas,” he recalled, “they were always very huge ideas, ideas that he believed could transform the way of life for the people. As party leader, I will certainly miss his presence and his contribution to the party.”

Meantime, his mother Magdalene Registe says he should be remembered for the sacrifices he made to improve the lives of people.

And Grandbay community leader Wyllie Fevriere remembers the late Edward Registe for his sterling contribution to youth here and abroad.

DBS will broadcast the funeral mass of the late Edward Registe at 2pm.
