Overseas-based athlete, Luke Lamar has officially secured qualification to represent Dominica at the 2026 CARIFTA Games in Grenada.
The 400-metre hurdler emerged as the only new qualifier during the final CARIFTA qualifying meet held in Martinique over the weekend. Lamar delivered an outstanding performance, breaking the national Under-20 record and setting a new personal best time of 57.01 seconds.
His achievement brings Dominica’s total number of qualified athletes to a historic 13 competitors, marking a record for the country.

Meanwhile, Jamical Titre, who had previously qualified in the discus event, added the shot put to his competition schedule after recording a throw of 15.10 metres.
President of the Dominica Athletics Association, Brendan Williams, credited local athletics clubs for their role in developing athletes and contributing to the record number of qualifiers.
He noted that the foundation has been laid for what promises to be an exciting CARIFTA Games for Dominica.
