Minister of State in the MoH Announces New Gender Equality Initiatives for International Women’s Day

Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services with responsibility for Social Services and Gender Affairs, Cassandra Williams, has announced two new initiatives aimed at strengthening gender equality and social empowerment in Dominica.

The announcement was made as part of activities marking International Women’s Day observed on Sunday.

The minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the national response to gender-based violence, particularly among vulnerable groups such as young women and single mothers.

As part of activities for Women’s Week, the ministry will also host a brunch and dialogue focused on mobilizing resources for gender-responsive community development.

The event will bring together community leaders and partners to discuss practical ways to advance gender equality at the community level.
