The 2O21-2O22 National Budget will make provision for improving staffing at the Child Abuse Prevention Unit.

Ahead of the Budget address on July 28, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said the decision is in response to growing concerns over child sexual abuse in Dominica.

He told his Annou Palé program on Sunday, that it aims to improve relationships among the Child Abuse Prevention Unit, the police and other state agencies, “to ensure that we have more people to deal with such occurrences”.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to build advocacy for the issue, adding that schools and churches need to play their part to encourage children to speak up about abuse.
