Coordinator of the National Aids Response Program, Nurse Allison Samuel says individuals should still ensure that they take the necessary precautions to avoid becoming infected with HIV despite the medical advancements in controlling the effects of the virus.
She made the remarks at a function in Castle Bruce on Tuesday as part of celebrations for World Aids Day Awareness month.
Nurse Samuel says while there still remains no cure for the virus modern medicines have allowed people infected with HIV to live almost normal lives.
