New Equipment and Machinery for Dominica’s Fisheries Complexes

Japan has handed over a $3M grant aid project, geared towards the improvement of fishery equipment and machinery in Dominica.

On Monday, The Fisheries Division received funding and equipment to refurbish and outfit the Roseau and Marigot Fisheries Complexes through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency, (JICA).

That project began in 2015 after the Government of Japan signed an agreement with Dominica and invested $1.5M into the fisheries Sector.

DBS News spoke to Chief Fisheries Officer, Riviere Sebastian.

Meantime, Minister for Agriculture, Johnson Drigo believes that the donations have been a major boost for the sector.
