The New India Goodwill Runners have reclaimed their position at the top of women’s football by winning the DFA Women’s Premier League title last night.
The championship reached its climax on the last day, with the Belfast Estate Mahaut Soca Striketts, the New India Goodwill Runners, and the reigning champions Roosevelt Skerrit Bombers Starlights all separated by just one point.
The Goodwill Runners faced the Roosevelt Skerrit Bombers in the season’s final game. A victory for either team would have awarded them the championship, while a tie would have allowed Belfast Estate Mahaut Soca Striketts to claim the title.
The Goodwill Runners at the conclusion of the evening triumphed, as they edged by the Roosevelt Skerrit Bombers Starlights.
The match stood at 2-2 in the second half, and as it appeared, Soca Striketts might clinch the championship, Krystel Elie struck a late goal to secure the Goodwill team a 3-2 victory. Brianna Briggs and Nyomie Defoe also scored for the goodwill runners, while Adinah Warrington and Patricia Pierre-Louis netted goals for the bombers.

Goodwill runners came in first with 40 points, the Belfast Estate Mahaut Soca Striketts took second with 38 points, and the Roosevelt Skerrit Bombers Starlights ended up third with 37 points.
