As Dominica experiences an upsurge in COVID-19 cases, Government quarantine facilities are supported by a new structure for human resource, maintenance and equipment, meals and other support services.

Minister for Health Dr. Irving Mc Intyre says as part of structural changes, Dr. Adrien Dechausey has been placed on special assignment as Medical Director.

He oversees a cadre of seven doctors, to include three specialists and four other medical doctors.

These doctors manage COVID-19 cases on a daily basis, in collaboration with a consultative crew of specialists, to include an Obstetrician/ Gynecologist, an Internist, two cardiologists, a Methodologist and a Pediatrician.

In addition, a new nursing structure has been approved for the facilities, headed by Deputy Principal Nursing Officer Magdalene Alexander.

According to Dr. Mc Intyre, Alexander will be assisted by four nursing directors.

Each nursing director will oversee different facilities, which will be staffed with nurses, ward aides and other support staff.
