No joint nominee for position of new President of Dominica

Speaker of the House of Assembly Joseph Isaac has informed Parliament that there is no joint nominee for the position of new President of Dominica.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has nominated senior public officer Sylvanie Burton of the Kalinago Territory , but leader of the opposition Jesmar Paul Victor is not supporting the Prime Minister’s nominee.

Mr. Isaac says an additional 14 days have been given, for his office to receive nomination for the position of President.

Meantime , leader of the opposition Jesmar Paul Victor spoke to DBS news following the sitting of the House of Assembly.

Paliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture , Fisheries and Blue and Green Economy , Lakeyia Joseph says the Prime Ministers nominee , Sylvannie Burton is an excellent choice for President .
