Over 69 million disbursed for the construction of resilient homes under the Housing Recovery Project.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities, and Digital Economy, Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite, says over 69 million has been disbursed for the construction of resilient homes under the World Bank-funded housing recovery project.

386 have been built under the project.

22 new resilient homes constructed under the project were handed over to homeowners during a ceremony in Bellevue Chopin yesterday.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities, and Digital Economy, Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite, represented Housing Minister Melissa Popponne Skerrit.

Meantime, Finance Minister Dr Irving McIntyre, who represented the Prime Minister, says the housing recovery project has enabled the people of Dominica to rebuild after Hurricane Maria.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Housing recognised three local contractors involved in the project: Ronan David, Sherman Boston, and Yankee Oliver.

The ministry will award the top ten local contractors of the project during a series of handover ceremonies, which will take place this week.
