Pan In Harmony and the Steelpan Initiative have welcomed the United Nations declaration of World Steel Pan Day as August 11th.
The United Nations made the declaration at the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York in July of this year.
Manager of Pan in Harmony Jacqueline Andre says this observance is a significant step towards celebrating the artistic and cultural contributions of the steel pan.
Andre says world steel pan day also serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the skilled artisans and musicians.
