Parliament Commences Debate on Over $154M Supplementary Estimates 2016/2017

Government is defending Supplementary Estimates of over $154M in Parliament.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said his Administration was able to touch every facet of Dominican life with about 99 percent of the funds coming from the CBI program.

He says attention has also been paid to housing.

Meantime, Trade Minister Ian Douglas has called on Dominicans to stand behind the Citizenship by Investment Program.

The majority of the funds from the Supplementary Estimates have come from the CBI program.

Meantime, protesters have clashed with police outside Parliament.

There are no immediate reports of injuries.

The UWP had called on its supporters to assembly in Roseau in an effort to prevent the passage of amendments to Dominica’s election laws.
