PM Roosevelt Skerrit Considers Legal Action Against 3 Parties for Defamation

Member of the Electoral Commission Hillary Shillingford, Radio Talk Show host Matt Peltier and WICE Q95FM could be facing legal action from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, as they have failed to meet a deadline to retract and apologize for statements accusing the Prime Minister of misusing public funds to transport supporters to Dominica to Vote.

Attorneys for the Prime Minister wrote to the 3 parties on June 16, 2017 and asked them to retract the comments with an apology and the payment of compensation and costs by July 5.

No Apology has since been made.

Senior Counsel Tony Astaphan says that accusations made by Hillary Shillingford as a member of the electoral commission are outrageous.

DBS News made contact with Hillary Shillingford who said that he was going to comment on the matter.

He said that he viewed it as an intimidation tactic.
