Post Office Employees Asked to Stay Home on Monday

Employees of the General Post Office have been asked to stay home for the day.

The public is also being informed of the closure.

The decision taken by Government is to allow for the completion of maintenance works which started on the facility over the weekend.

Less than two weeks ago, workers at the General Post Office building in Roseau protested poor working conditions. They were back on the job the same day after Chief Personnel Officer Gloria Joseph stated that Government will be addressing the problems with the ceiling, the problems with ventilation in the building and air conditioning in the building.

Joseph had also noted that these measures should be able to address the issues, at least for now.

In a statement issued today employees of the institution have been advised to stay home for the day to allow for improvement in the work environment.

Government says it apologizes for any inconvenience that will be suffered as a result of the closure.
