Businesswoman Melissa Skerrit, the wife of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, and Acting Festival and Events Manage at the Dominica Festival Committee Marva Williams, have been named among 13 new candidates for the Dominica Labor Party.

The announcement was made at the Delegates Conference of the Dominica Labor Party at Londonderry on Sunday.


Marva Williams replaces Dr Kenneth Darroux in the Petite Savanne Constituency.


The other new faces for the elections constitutionally due in 2020 are, Edward Registe in Grandbay, Educator Gretta Roberts for Maune Jaune, Anika Charles Marigot, Cozier Frederick Kalinago Territory, School principal Octavia Bonny Alfred for Castle Bruce, pharmacist Kent Edwards in Laplaine, Chekira Lockhart Hypolite for Roseau South, Dr Adis King in St Joseph, Dr Irving McIntyre for the Roseau Valley, accountant Fidel Grant for the Wesley Constituency, and Joseph Isaac for Roseau North.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit for Vieille Case, Reginald Austrie for Cottage, Ian Douglas Portsmouth, Roselyn Paul Paix Bouche, Catherine Daniel Colihaut, Nichols Shanks Esprit Salisbury, Rayburn Blackmoore Mahaut, and Denise Charles Soufriere, are the only candidates who have been retained from the 2014 general elections.
