Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has encouraged calypsonians and other artists in the Caribbean to seek to emulate the late Slinger Francisco, the Mighty Sparrow.
The Mighty Sparrow, who died in New-York on September 27 at the age of 91, was regarded as the World calypso king, having won 8 monarch and road march titles in Trinidad.
Mr Skerrit is hoping that the death of the Mighty Sparrow will encourage Caribbean artists to improve their lyrical composition.
