Prime Minister Tours Progress at New National Hospital

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has given the Chinese contractors on the new national hospital the assurances that the challenges facing the construction of the facility will be addressed.

The Prime minister’s comments after the Chinese project manager disclosed this morning that the completion of phase one of the hospital has been delayed by 3 months.

Lack of a steady supply of concrete, a 230 thousand dollar vat refund which is yet to be authorized and complications with the temporary blood bank, and storage space are among some of the challenges facing the Chinese contractors.

Prime minister Skerrit told the media at a tour of the facility this morning that despite the setbacks he is pleased with the progress so far and has directed the ministry of health to meet to discuss a way forward.

Phase one of the hospital is expected to be completed by the end of October.

Meantime Chinese Ambassador his Excellency LU Kun says he is confident that the challenges will be overcome.
