Coordinator of the Child Abuse Prevention Unit, Jemma Azille Lewis has called for greater reporting of cases of child abuse in Dominica.

She told the prize giving ceremony of the poster competition for primary schools that the statistics on child abuse over the last six years are cause for concern.

Mr Lewis says parents should exercise caution during the carnival season.

Meantime, 14 schools took part in the unit’s poster compeition to mark universal Children’s Day in November.

A child abuse prevention calendar was launched by the unit last week.
