Senior Counsel Tony Astaphan has challenged the Opposition United Workers Party (UWP) to publicly refute claims that they promised diplomatic passports to certain individuals in exchange for campaign financing for 2005 and 2009 elections.

Recently, Businessman Sam Raphael claimed to be witness to an alleged meeting with the United Workers Party and certain individuals.

The Opposition has denied that charge and has challenged Raphael to produce evidence of such meetings.

Astaphan says that the UWP has not taken such a position when they attack Government.
