Sick Population Encouraged to Visit Health Facilities

People being impacted by the flu, especially those who are considered to be in the at risk population, are being asked to visit their nearest health facility.

That call is coming from Health Educator in the Ministry of Health and Environment, Mignan Rolle Shillingford.

Dominica is currently being affected by 3 strains of the flu.

Speaking on Talking Point on Thursday, Nurse Shillingford says that the flu could create problems for people with underlying health issues like diabetes and other medical complications.

Nurse Shillingford says patients are also asked to come in as it helps with the data collection which goes a long way in creating more effective vaccines.
